GET's Projects

During my stay at Seattle Central College, I was offered a year of academic work for GET. Here, with the support of my team, we were able to design and execute some incredible events that not only disseminate the culture of other nations to all of the students, but also allow them to interact, make new friends, and build more significant memories throughout their time at Seattle Central College.

Escape Haunted Room is the first event that I was in charge of when I first started working at GET, from concept to execution. This is an event on which my team partnered with CAB - another board that belongs to SCC's Student Leadership. This, along with the Pumpkin Carving, was the most successful event of the year. We were able to recruit over 200 people and improve participant impression growth by 1000% over the previous year.

Not only do we plan big events during the holidays, but we also plan small-scale events with a variety of themes. The two small events that I was in charge of are the 'International District Tour' and the 'SAM aka Seattle Art Museum Tour,' in which I let participants discover the specialty destinations of Seattle: China Town, and the Public Market Center. We'll focus on gaining a deeper understanding of the cultures of other nations there, as well as providing more information for some of the international students who don't know much about Seattle. The activities had a small number of participants, but we were having a fantastic time here.

The Lunar New Year fashion show was the final event in which I participated before everything had to come to a halt due to the Pandemic. This is also one of the largest events at SCC, with many clubs participating such as VSA, TSA, CSA, KSA, and so on. Because SCC has many foreign students, primarily from Asia, this event is a great opportunity for them all to get together and enjoy the big holiday with friends from all around the world. Aside from the fashion show, our team also has the 'Wheel of Fortune,' which asks questions about the Lunar New Year in order to offer knowledge to domestic students about this holiday.
